Dredged materials are soil or excavated material with different parts of mineral and organic properties, which accumulate in or on the waterbodies in the course of waterway maintenance and expansion for warranty of safety and easiness of shipping traffic as well as discharge.

Importance

A cheap way to recover rocks from the seafloor for biological, chemical and geological research is to dredge the seafloor and investigate the found material. The technique involves scraping a metal bucket along the seafloor and investigating the recovered material. The recovered rocks and sediments don't give a precise indication of the subsurface or seafloor.
