The piston drill is a very fast drilling technique often used in weak or not cohesive soils and under the ground water level. It is used in an open borehole or an tubed hole without using water pressure. The maximum depth of the water is 5 meters and the reaching depth of the drill is about 2 meters.

Characteristics

The piston drill is pressed into the subsoil using the same technique as for a normal hand drill and with the help of the tube system. The piston drill creates a pressure difference which causes the sample to be sucked up by the tube. The length of the monitoring well can vary.
